A custom domain helps make your Shoopy store look professional and trustworthy. Instead of using a default Shoopy subdomain, you can use your own domain name like www.yourstore.com. In this guide, you’ll learn what a custom domain is and how to connect it to your Shoopy store by updating DNS records.
1. What is a Custom Domain? #
A custom domain is a unique web address that represents your brand online. For example:
By default, Shoopy provides a free subdomain (for example: yourstore.shoopy.in). However, a custom domain allows you to replace this with your own branded domain, which strengthens your online identity.
Benefits of Using a Custom Domain #
Builds brand identity
Looks more professional
Increases customer trust
Improves SEO and search visibility
Makes your store easier to remember
As a result, customers are more likely to trust and revisit your store.
2. Requirements Before Connecting a Domain #
Before connecting your domain to Shoopy, make sure the following requirements are completed:
You have purchased a domain from a domain provider (such as GoDaddy, Namecheap, or Hostinger).
You have access to your domain’s DNS management panel.
Your Shoopy store is active and published.
Without these requirements, the domain connection process may not work correctly.
3. How to Add a Custom Domain to Your Shoopy Store #
To connect your custom domain, you need to update your domain’s DNS records at your domain registrar. In simple terms, this means pointing your domain to Shoopy’s server.
Step-by-Step Instructions to Update DNS Records #
Step 1: Access DNS Settings #
- First, Log in to your domain registrar account (where you purchased your domain).
- Next, go to DNS Settings or DNS Management for your domain.
This is where all domain records are managed.
Step 2: Add an A Record #
The A record connects your main domain to Shoopy’s server.
Add a new record with the following details:
Type: A
Host / Name: @
Points to / Value: 34.131.166.98 (Shoopy’s IP address)
TTL: Default or Automatic
After entering these details, click Save.
Step 3: Add a CNAME Record #
In addition to the A record, you must add a CNAME record for the “www” version of your domain.
Add another record with these details:
Type: CNAME
Host / Name: www
Points to / Value: serve.shoopy.in
TTL: Default or Automatic
Once added, click Save to confirm the changes.
Step 4: Verify Your Domain #
After updating the DNS records, you need to verify that everything is working properly.
However, keep in mind that DNS propagation may take some time. It can take anywhere from a few minutes up to 24 hours.
To check:
Open your browser
Type your domain name (for example: www.yourstore.com)
Confirm that it opens your Shoopy store
Update Domain in Shoopy Admin Panel #
After updating DNS records, you must also add your domain inside Shoopy.
- First, log in to your Shoopy admin panel.
- Next, go to: Online Store → Store Settings → Store → Domain
- Then, enter your custom domain name (for example: www.yourstore.com).
- Finally, verify the domain connection.
Once verified, Shoopy will successfully link your store with your custom domain.
